Chess Queen Alexandra Kosteniuk gets Silver & 4th at the World Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships

Hello everyone!
I’m in Batumi, Georgia, and just finished the two incredibly strong Women’s World Rapid and Women’s World Blitz Championships. Although I always want to do better, I’m pretty happy of my result, Silver medal in the Rapid with a performance of 2672 ELO, behind Antoaneta Stefanova, and 4th in the Blitz, with a performance of 2583, behind Valentina Gunina, Natalia Zhukova, and Anna Muzychuk. Have a look at the full Rapid and Blitz tables. Below I attach some photos of the event. I have videos of many of my games, and will post them soon on my YouTube channel “ChessQueen”. Tomorrow I’m going to go sight-seeing in Batumi, so you will have more photos too!

In the Rapid: Stefanova, Kosteniuk, Koneru
In the Blitz: Gunina, Zhukova, A. Muzychuk

Expect more photos and videos from me, very soon!

Below is the Full Table of the Women’s Rapid World Chess Championship, then below the full table for the blitz. You will see from the names, titles, and ratings that those were two of the strongest women’s chess tournaments on the planet!

Congratulations Alexandra. I think your game against Anna Muzychuk in the Rapid was the best of the lot. By the way I was just wondering how you managed to keep your tempo when all other medal winners seem to have done well only in one section? Is it the running or extra training with Chess King?

  9. Brenda Figg says:
