Chess Queen Alexandra Kosteniuk supports the “Princess Carina Organization”.


GENEVA, FEBRUARY 7, 2012 – THE 12TH WOMEN’S WORLD CHESS CHAMPION ALEXANDRA KOSTENIUK JOINS THE “PRINCESS CARINA ORGANIZATION’ S COMMITTEE OF HONOUR, A CLUB OF TOP INTERNATIONAL PERSONALITIES, COMMITTED TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE SUSTAINABLE SOCIAL CHANGE.




The well-known Russian sportswoman with a “heart of gold”, Champion for Peace, role model, and 12th women’s world chess champion  Alexandra Kosteniuk joins the “Princess Carina Organization” committee of honour. It already counts among its members such famous personalities and compassionate philanthropist as: John Altman, Amanda Annan, Alexia Barrier, Melissa Mars, Edouard de Broglie.


The “Princess Carina Organization” is a neutral, international NGO (under the High Patronage of the Canton of Geneva). Its mission is to inspire people with the power of multi-vector cooperation for a sustainable personal and community makeover, overcoming any social injustice. Thanks to her outstanding intellect and hard work, Alexandra holds the highest title available to men and women chess players – Grandmaster (obtained at the age of 20 only!). Initiated to the game of chess at 5 years old, Alexandra started collecting international awards from the age of 10, became world champion Girls U-12 in 1996, Women’s European Champion in 2004, Russian Champion in 2005, before winning the supreme women’s world title in 2008. The same year she won the first-ever gold medal in the “Mind Sports Games”.


Alexandra Kosteniuk and Karina Bagration (the President and Founder of the “Princess Carina Organization”) have a lot in common. Even before earning public recognition, both women were entrenched in community service. It’s a way of life for both of them, whose list of activist affiliations is impressive. Coming from Post-Soviet space, they both escaped many limitations and stereotypes. Instead, they have elevated their vision and mission through numerous platforms, ranging from education, pioneering, philanthropy, building national and international alliances, socially responsible entrepreneurship and arts. “I am thrilled to support the Princess Carina Organization movement,” says Alexandra Kosteniuk. “I have a soft point in my heart for women’s initiatives, which provide effective counseling services, social support and education to empower to transform challenging life situations into opportunities for community and personal growth”.
