Kaliningrad get the visit of Chess Queen Kosteniuk

Hello everyone!

I visited the city of Kaliningrad on Wednesday for meetings to prepare for the “Alexandra Kosteniuk Chess Cup for Kids U-6, U-8 and U-10″, that will take place in Svetlogorsk (see tournament announcement) on November 26 & 27, 2011.

I made a post in Russian at this link, but for the moment I will share with you some nice photos of that day trip below.

First  of all, let me show you where Kaliningrad is:

I flew to Kaliningrad on the same flight as Mariya Kiselyova, Olympic Gold Medalist in Synchronized Swimming, and we were met by the Vice-Minister of Sports Oleg Kosenkov. See also the Trivia Post I made on www.chessblog.com where the answer was Mariya.

That’s me below on the embankment of the Baltic Sea

After the Press Conference dedicated to the upcoming tournament I gave a chess simul to 12 talented kids of the Kaliningrad region.

After the hard-fought simul and a short lunch break, I visited the Baltic Academy of Fish Industry.

May all your dreams come true!

Yours truly,
Alexandra Kosteniuk

I don’t know but it’s strange. Some black pieces on the board nearest look black – I mean the king and bishop seem darker complete black while the other black pieces are brown. It seems so in the second board too. Quirky thing maybe it’s the lighting effect or they are really are doing something stylish to the chess pieces. heh heh.

  4. STARFAN, Dhaka says:

Baltic Sea Chess Mermaid – particularly in last photo. All the best for all your chess endeavours my dear Queen.
